As we mark Volunteers’ Week 2025, it’s time to shine a well-deserved spotlight on the incredible people who give their time, energy and skills to Tavistock Heritage Trust.

From the friendly faces who greet visitors in the Visitor Information Centre, to the researchers piecing together Tavistock’s rich past; from the guided walk leaders bringing our streets to life, to the behind-the-scenes organisers and Trustees ensuring everything runs smoothly — every single volunteer plays a vital role in protecting and sharing our town’s extraordinary heritage.

Your contributions are what make our work possible. You help schoolchildren step back in time, support fascinating exhibitions, make sure our events run without a hitch, and keep Tavistock’s remarkable 1,000-year story alive for locals and visitors alike. Thank you.

We’re Growing – Can You Join Us?

As our work expands, so does the need for new volunteers. We’re looking for people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved—whether you have a few hours a month or a regular day to spare.

You don’t need to be a historian. You don’t need to know everything about Tavistock. You just need enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in.

Full support and training are provided, and you’ll become part of a friendly, welcoming team making a real difference in the local community.

• Visitor Information Centre Front of House – welcoming visitors and helping them make the most of their visit to Tavistock
