Use and Control of Water in Tavistock’s past 24th August

Ever since the first occupation of Tavistock there was and is a requirement for the provision of water for consumption, industrial use and for disposal of waste. This town walk explores the sites of historic water courses and their various placement within the town via wells, leats, conduits and pipes, and how water was stored and distributed for use as drinking water, for mills and breweries etc and eventual use for disposal via a managed sewerage system. This 90 minute, predominantly flat walk covers approximately 1.5 miles.

The walk commences at 2.00 pm from outside the Tavistock Visitor Information Centre in Guildhall Square and lasts for 90 minutes.

Tickets are £5 per person
