We’re into the second half of Tavistock’s Heritage Open Days 2025 – and there’s still so much to discover!


With talks, tours, walks, workshops and family fun, here’s your guide to the week ahead:


Tuesday 16th – Saturday 20th

  • Ongoing Exhibitions


    • Ruins & Monuments (Guildhall) – photography, graphics and paintings exploring the legacy of mining landscapes.


    • Images of Tavistock’s Architecture (Tavistock Library).


    • Tavistock Museum – Bedford Cottages, Tavistock Canal, and children’s activities.


    • Museum of Policing in Devon & Cornwall – explore historic displays and “Design a Cell” craft activity.


Wednesday 17th September


  • Curworthy Cheese - cheese making demonstartion using 17th century recipe, methods and implements at Country Cheeses 10:00 - 16:00 - more details here



Thursday 18th September

  • 19th Century Gothic or triumph of recycling? - a guided tour of Tavistock Guildhall Complex and its architectural features and uses over the years

Friday 19th September

  • Mount Kelly Tours (11am & 3pm) – explore the stunning grounds and buildings with student guides. NO NEED TO BOOK - see details here


  • Subscription Library Open Day (10am–4pm) – discover treasures from the 17th–21st centuries.


  • Guided Tours of St Eustachius’ (10:30–15:00) – explore 700 years of history in the parish church. NO NEED TO BOOK


  • Explore Ancient History at the Vicarage Garden -SORRY BOTH SESSIONS ARE FULL PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A TICKET



Saturday 20th September – Family Fun Day

  • Living in the Abbey – children’s creative activities (Guildhall Courtroom).


  • Tavistock Beekeepers – live hive and honeybee demonstrations (Guildhall Square).


  • Tavistock Players – meet characters from the town’s past (Guildhall Square).


  • Subscription Library Open Day (10am–4pm).


  • Tavistock Museum – exhibitions and children’s fun.


  • Museum of Policing – design your own cell activity.


  • Abbey School to Tavistock College Walk (2–3.30pm) – part of the Three Schools Project.


  • Medieval Music & Dancing with Tavistock Players (St Eustachius’ churchyard, 2.30pm).


  • St Eustachius’ Tours (10.30am & 3pm).


  • Our Lady of the Assumption & St.Mary Magdelene Catholic Church - Open Day (11:00 –15:00 ).

Sunday 21st September – Festival Finale

  • Guided Tour of Hurdwick Quarry (14:30). SORRY THIS SESSION IS FULL PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A TICKET


  • Concert: Echoes of St Eustachius (19:00 –21:00, St Eustachius’) – an evening of organ and choral music celebrating 700 years of worship. See more details here
